So, you've decided to try your hand (and your feet!) at competitive ballroom dancing. What next?
First, welcome to one of the most fun and exciting sports you will ever find! No matter what your age, health, athleticism, or dance background, dancesport has something for you. As a sport, ballroom dancing will train your body and mind, and has been shown to provide significant health benefits to long term practitioners.
Don't be intimidated by the flash and complexity of the dances or the sport. This book is a guide to help you get started. In it, you'll find information on how dancesport is organized, some basics on the dances you can compete in, how to get instruction and train yourself, and how competition works.
To use this book, it is recommended that you read it through once quickly, in order to get a general impression of the sport, and then go back afterward to specific sections for reference.
